It's a Great Blue Heron. That's the St. Lawrence River he's standing in.

These cool ducks landed in our pool for a nice refreshing bath this morning. They were brave as anything. A couple of guys were working in the yard when they came in and alerted me to it. They stuck around for about 30 minutes and then took off again.
